Regardless of who you intend to support in the upcoming City Council election on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, it is important to vote and have your voice heard.
If you are not already registered to vote, you can register by picking up a registration-by-mail form, which are available at most Los Angeles County buildings, city halls, fire stations, libraries, State Motor Vehicle Offices, Public Assistance Offices (DPSS, WIC), and post offices. You also can call the Voter Registration Request Line at (800) 481-VOTE (8683) 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to request a registration-by-mail form. For more information, visit the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk website.
You also can fill out the registration form online, print it out, and then mail it into the Los Angeles County Elections Office. The online registration forms are available at the California Secretary of State website.
The last day to register to vote for the March 3, 2009 election is February 17, 2008. The last day to register to vote by mail (i.e., to get an absentee ballot) is February 24, 2009.
